How to Find a Sidewalk Repair Company Near You

A raised sidewalk panel is easy to miss until someone catches a toe on it. For a city, an HOA or a property manager, that one uneven edge can turn into a complaint, an injury claim or an ADA issue. So when people search for "sidewalk repair companies near me," they usually want two things: someone local, and someone who can fix the problem quickly without tearing up the whole walkway.

Most search results point to general concrete contractors. Their usual answer is to break out the damaged panel, haul it away, pour new concrete and wait for it to cure. That works, but it is slow, loud and expensive, and the sidewalk is closed while it happens.

For raised edges and trip hazards, there is another option: removing the hazard in place. This guide explains how that works, where Precision Concrete Cutting (PCC) has crews, and what to look for when you hire a sidewalk repair company.

Repair in place instead of replacing

PCC does not tear out concrete. Instead, crews slice the raised edge of the panel down to a smooth 1:12 slope, so the step up becomes a gentle ramp that meets ADA requirements.

Because the existing concrete stays where it is, the work is fast. Each hazard takes about 15 to 20 minutes. There is no demolition, no new pour and no cure time, so the walkway is back in use the same visit. On average, this costs about 80% less than full panel replacement.

This approach works for most trip hazards caused by tree roots, soil movement and freeze and thaw cycles. When a panel is too damaged to cut, it goes on a replacement list instead.

What to look for in a sidewalk repair company

Before you hire anyone, it helps to ask a few questions.

  • Can they repair in place? If the concrete is sound and only the edge is raised, cutting it down is faster and cheaper than tearing it out. Ask whether replacement is really needed.

  • Will the result meet ADA requirements? The finished surface should meet ADA slope requirements, not just look flatter.

  • Do they document the work? Ask for a record of each hazard repaired, with its location and before and after measurements. For cities and HOAs, this record helps show that hazards were found and fixed.

  • Who have they worked with? PCC works with cities, HOAs, schools, hospitals and commercial properties, and has worked with the Seattle Department of Transportation since 2013.
